Imperial Beach · AI-native website

An Imperial Beach website a visitor's chatbot is willing to recommend out loud.

The pier crowd plans on the fly, phone in hand, asking an assistant where to eat and what's open. We build a small site that answers that question for them — and ranks on Google while it's at it.

01 — Why this, here

Imperial Beach lives on the day visitor — and the day visitor asks AI.

IB is a small town with a big share of out-of-towners. A surfer down for the swell, a family at the Pier District for the weekend, a couple from Coronado who crossed the bridge for cheaper dinner — none of them know the place, and most of them are asking an assistant to fill the gap. Where's good fresh fish near the pier. Which surf shop rents boards in Seacoast. What's still open after the kitchen closes everywhere else. The business the model names gets the walk-in. The one it skips never knew it was in the running.

The trouble is that small hospitality and retail sites here weren't built to be read by a machine. A pretty photo header and a phone number isn't an answer a language model can lift. It needs structured hours, a clear menu or rental list, real schema, and copy that ties the business to the neighborhood rather than to generic beach-town filler. Without that, the model reaches for Yelp or a directory you don't control, and you're a line item in someone else's listing instead of the name a visitor hears first.

None of this is a setting you flip on a hosted template. The legibility a model needs sits in the foundation of the site, so we build it from the ground up rather than patch it onto what's already there.

02 — What we build

What ships.

  • Schema markup engineered for AI retrieval — LocalBusiness, Menu, FAQ, and Organization graphs a model can actually parse, not just Google indexing tags.
  • Entity-rich copy a model can quote verbatim about your Imperial Beach business and have it still read naturally in an answer.
  • Core Web Vitals and page speed treated as table stakes — fast on a phone with one bar of signal down by the Seacoast strand.
  • An AI-citation audit at Day 0, 30, 60, and 90 across ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity — you see what the models say and what moves after launch.
  • Structured hours, location, and primary-source signals the major models weight when they decide who to name to a visitor.
  • A single living brief in your repo, so a seasonal menu change or a new rental line edits in without a rebuild.

03 — What this looks like

Three composite scenarios.

A family-run fish house near the pier does steady local business but is invisible the moment a weekend visitor asks an assistant where to eat fresh-caught near Imperial Beach. We rebuild around its real menu and its dock-to-table story, with Menu and LocalBusiness schema and copy a model can read aloud. By Day 60, ChatGPT starts naming the restaurant when someone asks about seafood near the IB pier.

A small surf-and-rental shop in Seacoast wants the down-for-the-day crowd to find it before they default to the first chain result. We give it structured rental inventory, honest copy on board sizes and conditions, and the credibility signals a model looks for. Perplexity begins surfacing the shop for board-rental questions in the South Bay within weeks of launch.

A handful of beach-cottage short stays and a boutique inn want the AI answer to "where to stay in Imperial Beach" to include them, not just the big platforms. We build a tight site with proper lodging schema, clear amenity and availability copy, and a local entity that ties the property to the Pier District. The aim isn't volume — it's being the answer when a traveler asks Claude where to stay near the surf.

04 — Honest scope

This is a focused 2-to-5-week build for an owner-led business that wants its small site done right. It is not a brand overhaul, not a 200-page content factory, and not a monthly marketing retainer dressed up as a project.

South Bay — in-person inside 40 minutes from studio HQ in San Diego. We work bilingually when it helps, through the sister studio in Tijuana.

This page was drafted from a structured brief and hand-reviewed before launch. The work itself is custom, owner-operated, never templated.
